White Sepulcher

Since this summer my husband and I have been having problems with our vehicle. So much so, the engine went out over the summer, oil pump. We had to be towed off the freeway to a shop where they told us it is notorious for this type of vehicle. Not having money to fix and still paying on it, we sought the LORD. We had it towed to a friend’s home, until we could get the next step. Then the LORD spoke through a pastor we know and we had the car towed to a mechanic. The place had enough room for it to sit until we knew the next step. We are blessed to have such wonderful friends in the body of Christ, we were receiving prayers, donations and encouragement, even one loaning a vehicle. Many said the car is so beautiful you should fix it… Joshua, my husband and I took a flight to where we purchased the car to talk to the loan company and take care of business. We could not even junk the car because we owe and no title. We were able to get a loan to help get the car running again. We gave the mechanic the go ahead to work on it. We paid what we had and continue to pay in faith. The car continued to have one issue after another from the time we got it back; air conditioner went out, front brakes, battery, and the alternator, the mechanic fixed or replaced it all and we will faithfully pay him.

The day (in October), we got it back from the alternator replacement, the LORD sent us from Illinois, where we have been living, to Washington state, where we, and the car are from. During all this time I am hearing “whited sepulcher”. On our arrival into Washington state, the car starts to have problems again. We take it to the shop for diagnostics, and find it will cost $4700 more without even opening the motor up to fix; more could be found when opened up.

Joshua, and I heard, “the car’s done, drive until it quits,” from the LORD. We went and bought oil to keep it going until then. Well, that only lasted a day. It is now parked, and we owe! “But God”! He has been helping us, and giving us answers as we go! Amen! And God arranged another car to be loaned to us while we are here! That’s our God! I looked up Whited Sepulcher, because I remember reading it in the bible. His Holy Spirit is so good at helping me find what I need.

The definition found through internet: Whited Sepulcher: a person inwardly corrupt or wicked but outwardly or professionally virtuous or holy hypocrite. I asked the LORD, “how does that pertain to the car”? He then helped me to find the verse on it. Matthew 23:27 KJV: “Woe unto you Scribes, and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye are like “whited sepulchers” which indeed appear beautiful outward but are within full of dead men’s bones and of all uncleanness”. I again asked, “what are You telling me with this?” He explained to me that, though the car looks good on the outside, it is dead on the inside, much like many people who call themselves Christian. He then took me to 1 Samuel 16, where Samuel was to anoint the next king. There were several sons of Jesse, David being the youngest. In verse 16:7 God says: “Look not on the countenance, or on the height of his stature because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth: for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart”. Realize that, as Samuel was looking at all the sons in front of him, that, God refused them all! Then God had Samuel ask if there were any more sons, now comes David! Read 1 Samuel 16, critical YOU do this. Then He proceeded to tell me, “like your car, it looks good on the outside, but inside it is dead, and that is all many see, is the outward appearance. This is to be true of many people who say that they know Me, and do My works; yet, My Holy Spirit is not free to move, and My gifts are not taught, used, or allowed to be used”.

I have learned over the years that we can hear the still small voice of the God. There are some who are blocked by God, some who listen and obey, at least a majority of the time, and some who harden their hearts to the voice out of hurt, anger or fear… Those who listen a majority of the time, are led to a church to be taught of the LORD in Spirit and Truth. It does not always happen. Some stay for a time, until God moves them to hear Him, and be taught through another. Others just leave, and some stay and never grow. If one is listening, the Holy Spirit Himself teaches individually. He even gets you to a point where you start out being taught through others, and then He guides you to truly follow His lead as the disciples did. When the Lord’s Pastor, or any anointed speaker of the Lord, is doing the will of God, and the people are listening, the Holy Spirit is allowed to move, as He chooses. The gifts are taught, the people begin to use them, and become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ as His body. 1 Corinthians 12 speaks on the spiritual gifts, and how each person has at least one gift. We are all members of the body of Christ. The body is not one member but many. See 1 Corinthians 12. It is critical that, YOU do this! Ephesians 4:4-7 (KJV); “4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all”. God’s intention is for ALL of His body move and flow in their calling. They cannot if they do not know or if they do know and are not encouraged to use them. If one is going to talk the talk, they too must walk the walk, in season and out. “Be doers of the Word, and not just hearers, deceiving themselves, and those around them” (James 1:22 KJV). What is taught in the light, holds true in the dark. Be not like the Scribes, Pharisees, and lawyers, and those around them who look good on the outside, but are full of “dead men’s bones” (death) on the inside. We are all one body in Christ, He is the head! PERIOD!
